SUMMARY:The Music of Fanny Hensel
DESCRIPTION:Join pianist Daniel Peycke on September 25 at 7 p.m. for an eve
 ning devoted to the remarkable music of Fanny Hensel\, one of the most comp
 elling composer-pianists of the Romantic era. Though much of Hensel’s wor
 k remained unpublished during her lifetime\, her music reveals imagination\
 , depth\, and a distinctive voice that continues to gain recognition today.
  This recital invites listeners to discover the beauty and brilliance of he
 r piano writing in the resonant setting of the Grace and Holy Cathedral Nav
 e. The concert is free\; donations are welcomed.\nDaniel Peycke received BM
  and MM degrees in piano performance from UMKC. He lives in Raytown with hi
 s wife and three children\, working as a collaborative pianist\, teacher\, 
 and church musician.\nFanny Mendelssohn Hensel (1805–1847) composed more 
 than 450 works\, including piano music\, songs\, chamber music\, and larger
  vocal works. In the final year of her life\, she began publishing under he
 r own name after some early works had appeared in collections associated wi
 th her brother\, Felix Mendelssohn. Many of her compositions remained unpub
 lished until the late 20th century\, and performers\, scholars\, and listen
 ers continue to bring her extraordinary music to wider attention.\nLearn mo
