The Westport Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution invite you and your congregation to join in the national historic bell ringing marking the signing of the Constitution of the United States. Bells will simultaneously sound across the county for one minute on September 17, 2026 at
4 p.m. eastern standard time (3 p.m. central).

This celebration began in 1787 after the Constitution of the United States was signed by the delegates from each state. In 1955, the NSDAR encouraged the revitalization of the tradition by petitioning the US Congress. The bill that established Constitution Week was signed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Please join us in celebrating the signing of this great document, the Constitution of the United States, on September 17, 2026 at 4 p.m. eastern standard time and let your church bells be heard!

If you have any questions, please contact the diocesan office or the Rev. Rebecca Schubert for more information.

This press release was submitted by the Rev. Rebecca Schubert, Chaplain at St. Luke’s Hospice, Susan Spaulding, Constitution Week Chairwoman, and Julia Jackson, Westport Chapter Regent.
