Endowments 101 for Church Leaders
Please join us for an introductory webinar on endowments and endowment management, led by Josh Anderson, Director of Endowment Management at the Episcopal Church Foundation. Josh has been with ECF for more than 10 years, working with congregations, dioceses, and other Episcopal organizations on endowment structure, investment oversight, and growth.
Designed for clergy, vestry members, finance leaders, endowment committee members, and other lay volunteers, this webinar will offer a practical overview of what endowments are, why they matter, and how they can support long-term ministry. Participants will come away with a clearer understanding of:
- What an endowment is and how it differs from other restricted or reserve funds
- Why purpose, policy, and governance are essential to a healthy endowment
- How spending and investment decisions work together in long-term stewardship
- What questions church leaders should ask when reviewing or creating endowment policies
- How endowment and legacy giving can support a parish’s broader mission and financial life
- Practical next steps for evaluating or strengthening their own parish’s endowment practices
Whether your parish already has an endowment or is beginning to think about creating one, this session will help leaders approach endowment stewardship with greater clarity, confidence, and purpose.
