Other Travel Details
Travel Documents
It is essential that you have a current passport in hand six months beyond your time of arrival to Israel. Visas to Israel are not required for persons from Australia, Canada, the United States and Western Europe.

Hair Dryers
St. George’s Pilgrim Guest House rooms are equipped with built-in wall hair dryers. However, The Sisters of Nazareth Guest House does not equip hair dryers in their rooms. We do recommend carrying your own just to be on the safe side.

Electricity and Electronics
The electrical current in Israel is 220AC. Electrical plugs are shaped differently in Israel. Most U.S. phone and camera chargers only need a power plug adapter for sockets type C and H (see internet or local travel store). If you bring a hair dryer you will need a transformer and an adapter plug. However, inexpensive dual voltage hair dryers are available in the U.S. and in travel stores. Dual voltage items must be switched over to our 220AC and can then be used with only an adapter plug.

Photography and Cameras
Care should be taken not to photograph any military or police personnel or installations. Visitors should also be discreet about taking photographs in Jewish Orthodox areas and of Jewish Orthodox people. Most sacred sites will indicate whether photography is permitted.

Meals
All meals are included. Breakfasts and dinners will be served at St. George’s Guesthouse or at the Sisters of Nazareth. Lunches are in local restaurants throughout the day. Your guide will pay for the lunches and tips. In addition, there are several nights when you may want to enjoy the local restaurants on your own. When you do this, the hotel must be notified the day before. The cost of the missed meal cannot be reimbursed. Indicate any dietary restrictions on your leader’s registration form. Beverages during your evening meal are purchased separately from your waiter, so it is wise to bring some extra money with you to the dinner table. All varieties of soft drinks, mineral waters, beers, and wines are available.

Books
You will not want to bring many books. However, pack a journal and perhaps a map, a guidebook to read at night, a Bible or prayer book if it is small. Sometimes a kindle, iPad, or cell phone is a great place to store your books, even for storing a Bible or Prayer Book. Excellent books are also for sale at St. George’s College and the nearby Educational Bookshop.

Transportation from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem
Qumri Pilgrimages will provide luxury coach transportation for the group arriving at the Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv and also for the group’s departing transportation at the end of the pilgrimage. Pilgrims and baggage will be transported to our hotel in Jerusalem, approximately a 45-minute drive.

Coffee
Many hotels and restaurants serve instant coffee, Nescafe. If you are not a fan of Nescafe, please plan accordingly.

Weather
Spring and Fall (late Mar/Apr/May and late Sep/Oct/Nov): Daytime temperatures will be very pleasant, in the 60Âş’s to 70º’s in most of the country, however it will be hot at the Red and Dead Seas. Jerusalem temperatures will be comfortable in the 40Âş to 50º’s in the evening. There will be some rain – nothing torrential.

Free Time
There will be planned “free time” within our itinerary, usually two half days or one full day. Qumri Pilgrimages is happy to suggest a variety of activities for pilgrims to choose from, including particular shopping areas and additional places of special interest.

Language
English is understood and spoken widely in most tourist areas. Arabic and Hebrew are the official languages in Israel. The folks from Qumri speak English, Arabic and Hebrew so they can always help.

Walking
Plan to be able to walk comfortably for 20 minutes at a time. Bear in mind that the terrain is sometimes rough and dusty. In most areas there are places to sit and rest while waiting for the group. Comfortable walking shoes are essential!

What to Wear and What Not to Wear!
Women – Please dress conservatively in skirts, slacks or capris (that cover the knees) for Holy Land sites. No tank tops, shorts or sleeveless blouses, please. Short sleeves are fine. Bermuda shorts are fine for the walking tour in Galilee. You will want to be able to dress up slightly for church on Sunday and for a few special nights. You will also need a sweater or light jacket for potentially cool evenings.
Men – Long pants, jeans or khakis, are necessary most days. Bermuda shorts are fine for the walking tour in the Galilee. You might want some long-sleeved shirts for church and a few special nights.
Hats, Sunglasses and Sunscreen for Everyone – You will need a hat and sunglasses, also sneakers and/or walking shoes that can handle cobblestones. Otherwise, shoes are entirely up to you. Do not forget your sunscreen!
Jewelry – A watch is helpful, but a lot of jewelry is unnecessary. Many people enjoy finding a silver or gold cross – or some special earrings while on the pilgrimage.

Laundry
Many pilgrims handwash a few items in their bathrooms; they will dry overnight. There is also a laundry service available at St. George’s Guesthouse for an extra charge. If interested in this service, please ask the front desk and they will provide you with a laundry bag that you must write your room number on. Laundry is usually done and ready to receive the following day.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many spots are there?

The group size is 30. Both Bishops will be attending, with 14 additional spots for each diocese available.

When does registration close?

Initial registration is open until November 1, 2026. At this time, a $1,000, non-refundable deposit is due. This will secure your spot. For pilgrims with reserved spots, the next phase of registration will open soon after, with the remaining balance due on March 1, 2027.

What is the cost and what is included?

The all-inclusive price is $6,000. The $1,000 deposit will be applied to your final balance. This covers the following: Flights to and from the Holy Land, all overnight accommodations, all meals, transportation in comfortable air-conditioned bus, guiding fee, all entrance fees on your itinerary, all guest speakers, portage at all hotels, tips for restaurant and hotel staff, and bus driver tips. Personal expenses such as phone calls, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, laundry, and travel/medical insurance are not covered.

Do I need to book my own flights?

You will NOT need to book your own flights! We will be using a travel agent to arrange group flights from Kansas City and St. Louis to a location in the US, where the group will then fly to/arrive in Tel Aviv together.

Will I need Travel & Medical Insurance?

YES. Pilgrims must have international medical insurance and travel insurance per Qumri Pilgrimages.

What are the accommodations?

From May 19-24 (5 nights) and May 27-29 (2 nights), we will be staying at Saint George’s Guest House (Nablus Road 20 P.O. Box 19018 | stgeorges.gh@j-diocese.org). This cathedral contains a beautiful garden, St. George's College, and is also the home to the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem. The Guest House provides the perfect retreat for pilgrims. The rooms are climate-controlled, have TV, a mini safe to store your valuables, and a mini fridge (empty). The rooms also include updated bathrooms and showers complete with bath towels, hand towels, shower gels, and shampoo. The staff is topnotch and noted for good customer service. The food is super, and they have a modest rooftop deck for early morning or evening gazing over the Old City. From May 24-27 (3 nights), we will be staying with at the Sisters of Nazareth Guest House (Casa Nova Street P.O. Box 50274 | accueilnasra@live.fr | +972-4-6553400). At the Sisters of Nazareth Guesthouse, the rooms are a bit smaller than at St. George's Guesthouse, but have been fully updated, have climate control, and are noted for their very clean upkeep. There is a lovely courtyard for pilgrims to gather in the evenings. Breakfasts are simple, usually consisting of delicious bread (homemade), jams, cheese, fruit, hardboiled eggs, juices, and coffee.

What is the room occupancy?

Prices are based on double occupancy, and pilgrims should expect to have a roommate.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Deposits are non-refundable, and once full payments have been made refunds cannot be issued by Qumri, which is why travel insurance is required.

What is an ETA-IL and do I need one?

YES. Starting January 2025, citizens of visa-exempt countries who intend to visit Israel for up to 90 days, including minors of any age, must obtain an ETA-IL prior to traveling to Israel. Apply here: https://www.gov.il/en/departments/topics/eta-il/govil-landing-page

Is it safe?

YES. Our hosts, the Qumri family, closely monitor the situation in Israel and will be in direct contact with us should it become unsafe for us to travel or continue with our current pilgrimage plans.
