The Rev. Donna Stanford serves as Secretary of The Diocese of West Missouri and on the Council of Deacons as Deacon for Administration. The former position is an administrative, canonical, and governance officer elected by Diocesan Convention. The latter position involves coordinating a deacon visitation schedule that aligns with those of the bishop, the Canon for Common Mission, and the Canon for Discipleship; coordinating deacon participation in diocesan liturgies; and assisting diocesan staff in maintaining accurate records and contact information for all deacons.
Deacon Stanford was raised in the Presbyterian Church and was confirmed in The Episcopal Church in 1997. She discerned her call to the diaconate at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Kansas City. In 2014, Deacon Stanford graduated from the Bishop Kemper School for Ministry and was ordained a deacon. She was assigned by the bishop to the newly consolidated parish of St. Peter & All Saints, Kansas City, and previously served as Intake Officer for the diocese.
Deacon Stanford has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and a Juris Doctor degree from the UMKC School of Law. She served as the Staff Attorney and, later, as a Law Clerk at the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District, in Kansas City.
