Heartland Episcopal Cursillo is getting ready for a weekend of faith, fellowship, renewal, and joy! From October 16–18, pilgrims and team members from across The Diocese of West Missouri and The Diocese of Kansas will gather for our upcoming Cursillo Weekend.
As we prepare, Heartland Cursillo is asking every parish with palanca and prayer.
What is Palanca?
Palanca is a Spanish word meaning “lever.” In Cursillo, it represents the prayer, sacrifice, encouragement, and acts of love that help lift and support another person in their journey with Christ. Palanca reminds our pilgrims that they are not making this journey alone: the wider Body of Christ is praying for them, encouraging them, and walking beside them.
How Can Your Parish Help?
We would love to receive wall palanca from your parish; this can be posters, banners, cards, letters, artwork, or other colorful expressions of prayer and encouragement that can be displayed throughout the weekend.
We also welcome physical palanca for our pilgrims and team members. These may be small tokens, handmade items, notes of encouragement, treats, bookmarks, crosses, prayer cards, or other simple gifts that remind those attending that they are being held in prayer and surrounded by Christian love.
Palanca does not need to be elaborate or expensive. The greatest palanca you can offer is prayer.
Please pray for our pilgrims, team, clergy, lay leadership, and all those preparing to serve. Pray that the Holy Spirit will be present in every conversation, every talk, every meal, every prayer, and every moment of the weekend. Pray that hearts may be opened, friendships formed, faith renewed, and that all of us may return to our parishes ready to serve Christ with hearts on fire.
We hope every parish will join us in making this weekend a visible reminder of just how large and loving our Cursillo family truly is.
If your parish would like to contribute wall or physical palanca, or if you have questions about the best way to collect and get your palanca to us, please contact Raja Reed at rajareed@gmail.com or 816-984-9770.
Thank you for your prayers, your generosity, and your palanca. Together, may we help lift one another closer to Christ.
De Colores!
