Over the years, the Peace and Justice Committee has made gun violence safety and the safe storage of guns an important priority in their ministry. From Be SMART, a gun safe storage program, and The Book of Life, a weekly list of gun violence deaths, these are just two programs that the Peace and Justice committee, led by Tara Bennet, have emphasized.
Tara has now resigned from that position, and Patricia Ryder and Lenette Johnson are taking over as co-chairman of this committee. While there is still a strong interest in safe storage of gun and gun violence safety, there are other peace and justice issues that we know are important in our ministry. The committee is looking for individuals with a passion for these issues. Meetings are held once a month via Zoom.
If you are interested in being on this committee, or volunteering in any way, please contact peaceandjustice@diowestmo.org for more information.
We thank Tara for all of the work she has done over the years! Your ministry has been a blessing to us.
