Creation Walk: Prayer on the Prairie

Join the Creation Care Commission for “Prayer on the Prairie” — a morning of fellowship, gentle hiking, and noonday prayer at the beautiful Prairie State Park, just north of Mindenmines, Missouri, on Saturday, August 16, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

We’ll gather for a relaxed walk through the park’s stunning tallgrass prairies, taking time to enjoy the open skies, blooming wildflowers, and possibly even glimpses of the resident bison herd. Around midday, we’ll pause together to pray the Noonday Office in the heart of this rare and sacred landscape.

This gathering is designed for those comfortable spending a summer morning outdoors. The terrain is mostly even, and there are multiple trail options. We will walk at a pace that suits the group until prayer time.

What to bring:

  • Water

  • A snack, if desired

  • A Book of Common Prayer (optional—handouts will be provided)

About the park:
Less than 1% of Missouri’s original tallgrass prairie remains today, much of it protected at Prairie State Park. Visitors are treated to sweeping views of native grasses, ever-changing wildflowers, and the sounds and sights of an ancient ecosystem still thriving.

This is a low-pressure, go-with-the-flow event—a time for prayer, nature, and connection with fellow Episcopalians. If you’re seeking a peaceful morning in one of West Missouri’s most beautiful places, we hope you’ll join us!

If you are interested in attending, please contact the Rev. Collin Larimore at associate@gracecarthage.com.

  • Time : 9:00 am - 12:30 pm (America/Chicago)
