Dear Friends in Christ,

If you are a member of the clergy and you have a spouse, I want to encourage you to encourage your spouse to attend the Clergy Spouse retreat outlined below. My husband Steve and his planning team have been working hard to set up this time away at Conception Abbey. It know it will be a wonderful retreat, and I hope you and your spouse will talk about this and that your spouse will sign up!
Blessings and love,
Diane
Convention Bishop Diane and Steve

Thanks to the clergy spouses who expressed interest in our spring survey about a weekend gathering together at Conception Abbey from Friday night, October 4 through Sunday morning, October 6.

We are now ready to reserve our time at Conception. The cost will be $60/person. A double occupancy room will be $100. We will announce plans for car-pooling as we get closer to the weekend. Rooms at Conception are air-conditioned.

Please let me know if you are hesitant to attend because of the financial costs, and we will make sure that you can attend.

Although there is no particular ‘theme’ for the weekend, other than to spend some precious time together as clergy spouses; we might focus some of our time on a discussion about the changing lives of clergy spouses in the Episcopal Church.

I’ve asked Mother Rita Kendagor to join us for prayer and facilitation of that discussion.

I am aware that clergy spouses lead their own busy lives. I also am aware, as a clergy spouse myself for 26 years, that it is important to get away, and just as important to be with other spouses who enjoy this life.

Please try to make time to join us on this retreat.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at gsb.csd@gmail.com.

Thanks and blessings to you all,
Steve Bruce
