The Very Rev. Jean Long grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was very active in The Diocese of Oklahoma youth and college ministries. She holds a B.S. in Nutritional Sciences from Oklahoma State University and an M.S. in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Oklahoma. She and her husband, Paul, moved to Kansas City in 1997. During that time, she worked as a dietitian until becoming a stay-at-home mom to their three daughters.
When the Very Rev. Jean entered the workforce again, she listened to God’s call in her life and shifted her focus away from dietetics and towards ministry. For several years, she served as Children’s, Youth, and Young Adult Ministry Coordinator at St. Andrew’s in Kansas City. During this time, Mtr. Jean discerned a call to the priesthood. She then attended Bishop Kemper School for Ministry and graduated in May of 2022, and later ordained a priest in December of 2022 into The Diocese of West Missouri.
The Very Rev. Jean now serves as Associate Rector of St. Andrew’s in Kansas City and the dean of Northwest-Metro Deanery.
