Riley Brown is a recent graduate of Harvard Divinity School and a native of Springfield, Missouri. After completing his degree, he returned home with his wife and two cats and is excited to be back in the great state of Missouri. It has been his goal to bring the insights and experiences to his home community, and he is thrilled to now serve The Diocese of West Missouri.
While in Boston, Riley worked in a range of settings—including hospitals, nursing homes, churches, and on Harvard’s campus—as part of his formation and theological education. His own faith journey, shaped by leaving an evangelical and fundamentalist background during his undergraduate years, has given him a deep empathy for others navigating similar questions and doubts.
Although Riley did not grow up in the Episcopal Church, he has come to deeply value its rich tradition and spiritual openness—especially for young people who may feel burnt out, disillusioned, or wounded by past religious experiences. He understands his ministry as reaching beyond denominational boundaries, offering support to all who are seeking, questioning, or curious about faith. Riley believes The Episcopal Church has something truly special to offer, particularly to younger generations. He is excited to join the team and is committed to supporting and strengthening the faith of young people across the diocese in any way he can.
