A Women’s Retreat with Bishop Diane is planned for Saturday, October 26th from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in the parish hall. All women are invited to attend!
The theme, Resilience, is discussed by Bishop Diane by diving into a pivotal time in her crazy, busy life when she needed to reorder her priorities and put her complete trust in God.
“My story is one of resilience, fortitude, and love—grounded in prayer,” says Bishop Diane.
Dr. Kathy LeMon, a new member of Christ Episcopal Church, will discuss some of the tools available in her presentation “A Merry Heart Keeps Ticking On,” as we meet life challenges to construct a creative, resilient life journey.
You will have an opportunity to choose from a variety of delightful women for your two breakout sessions.
- Dr. Eloise Thomas, a professor at Ozark Tech and MSU, will talk about her research in aging and spirituality qualifies to help offer insight on how to balance resilience across the challenges of the years.
- Mary Luke, a retired adolescent psych nurse-manager and member of the vestry, will be featuring practical advice on how to respond to a medical emergency at the church. She will engage us by letting us know what to look for and how to respond including the use of CPR and the AED.
- Mary Ellison, MA, MPH, is a retired public health professional. Mary will introduce us to the vision board as a hands on creative tool to visualize ways to deal with personal stress.
- Canon Shirley Bolden, the Chair of Diversity and Reconciliation for the Diocese, will enlighten us to the resilience needed by women of color as they face both sexism and racism.
