On Saturday, May 24, the Rev. Dr. Julia Gatta visited The Diocese of West Missouri to give her presentation on her book “Life in Christ: Practicing Christian Spirituality” at St. Mary Magdalene. Roughly 20 people gathered for this discussion, which began during Lent when the Spiritual Formation Commission encouraged small groups throughout the Diocese to read and discuss her book.
The morning presentation and discussion focused on Baptism and Eucharist as foundational experiences of the Christian Life. After lunch, the presentation explored Christian practices that can nourish living out our Baptism and Eucharist. Special emphasis was on the practice of ‘Lectio Divina’ – the slow reading of scripture in a meditative manner.
