Kim Snodgrass, Interim Missioner for Youth Ministry, is keeping the diocese busy with youth events and other related news. Please check out the updates below and see how you and your youth can get involved.
It’s not too late to register for Kansas Happening, June 27-29 at St. David’s in Wichita! This is a Christian experience presented by teenagers, for teenagers. Activities are designed for fun and Christian community building – like games, music, great food, and a chance to talk with peers about things that really matter.
Registrations are rolling in for MissionPalooza which means worksite preferences are filling up! Please encourage your youth to put their faith in action over the course of five days and at some really terrific new worksites in the Kansas City area. Special Note: Youth Delegates to Convention will be elected during MissionPalooza. This is a way for your youth to really get involved because delegates are full voting members of the Convention, elected by their fellow youth, who serve as the voice of the young people of our diocese in our deliberations. This is just another good reason to be there! Learn more about being a Youth Delegate and find the application here.
On Wednesday, August 20, the join a virtual WEMO Youth Ministry Leadership Meeting just in time for back to school. This brief 30-minute meet up with leadership across around the diocese is for adult volunteers, parents, clergy and the Diocesan team. Beginning at 7 p.m. we’ll talk about ways we can support each other, upcoming events and engage volunteers. We encourage churches to tag onto this with a coinciding youth evening agenda! Register here so we know you’re coming!
It’s a Gathering with Bishop Meaux! Load the car for a Sunday drive. From 4-6 p.m. come enjoy picnic foods, games and a visit with Bishop Amy. Extend a personal invitation to encourage others to be there. Everyone will be home in good time to settle in for the week ahead. Plan a caravan from church…and register here to let us know you’ll be there!
Make plans to attend the November 7-8 this year’s convention Diocesan Youth Gathering (DYG) in Kansas City. Plans are underway for convention themed “fun with purpose” sessions, observing youth delegates in action on the convention floor, leading Morning Prayer service and music on Saturday morning, and much more. The more the creative brains involved, the merrier – please share any ideas you have for engaging sessions with Kim Snodgrass. Registration information and a schedule will be available at a later date.
