As Youth Missioner, the Rev. David Wilcox plans, provides, and nurtures purposeful and tranformational ministry to the young people of the dicoese. He also equips youth and those who minister to youth with the resources needed to create dynamic, local ministries for young people to experience God and integrate fully into the life of their congregations.
Fr. David was born and raised in Kansas City. Having grown up in the Roman Catholic tradition, he spent time in the Eastern Orthodox Church before finding his way to The Episcopal Church and The Diocese of West Missouri in 2015. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and a Master of Divinity degree from the School of Theology at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. Fr. David was ordained to the diaconate in January 2023, and to the priesthood in July of the same year at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral in Kansas City.
When he’s not traveling and visiting parishes as part of his youth ministry work, Fr. David serves as assisting priest at St. Augustine’s Church in Kansas City. He is also the Convener for the diocesan Spiritual Formation Commission, and a member of the College and Young Adult Commission and the Access for All God’s Children Committee. David is passionate about the Gospel, formation, coffee, history and little known (and less cared about) information. He currently lives in Belton with his husband Zach and their dog Ollie.
