Over the weekend of June 7 – 9, The Diocese of West Missouri celebrated Pride in Kansas City and Springfield!

Many of the weekend celebrations began on June 8th at 9:30 a.m., when both St. Paul’s in Kansas City and Christ Church in Springfield began the day with a Pride Mass, to celebrate those who are a part of the LGBT+ community. Afterwards, people got to walk through the parade before arriving at the festival, where The Diocese of West Missouri had booths present at both locations to talk about the relationship between God, the LGBT+ community, and The Episcopal Church.

It was a privilege to proclaim the Gospel of God's unconditional love as a united Episcopal family with our siblings in Christ from other parishes in the area. It was a special joy, as the festival was coming to a close, to see hundreds of folks leaving with Episcopal drawstring bags on their backs, carrying the message of love with them on their journeys.

Thank you to everyone who helped plan and support our Pride efforts this year, and thank you to Bishop Cathleen Bascom for celebrating with us in Kansas City. Finally, thank you to everyone who has continued to show support and be an ally to the LGBT+ community. Together, we can continue to share God’s word with welcoming arms to ALL.
